Airport Dike Trail / EVAR: short bicycle return
Juneau
Up to 2 miles return · Out-and-back
Compacted aggregate main trail; inspect for loose or eroded spots
Follow the signed main path along the main Airport Dike Trail toward the covered bench. Turn after 1 outward mile or before the first public-road crossing, work barrier, uncertain continuation or uncomfortable transition, whichever comes first; retrace. Walk any initial lot or access-drive interface. Do not use a road or private-property detour.
Alcantra paved baseball-field loop
Wasilla
About 0.6 mile per lap · Loop
Paved baseball-field loop
follow only the paved path circling the baseball fields, returning to the same junction. The borough's bicycle GIS feature 250 lists about 0.575 mile for this closed loop: round it to **0.6 mile**, with the parking approach additional. Repeat a lap if desired. The advertised 1.6-mile network and two-mile listing include a broader scope; they are not this loop's length.
Campbell Creek short return east of Lake Otis
Anchorage
Up to 2 miles · Out-and-back
Asphalt main creek greenway
from this side of Lake Otis, follow the main paved Campbell Creek Trail **east/upstream toward Elmore Road**, away from Lake Otis Parkway. Turn after **one outward mile**, or earlier at a public-road crossing, barrier, uncomfortable slope or unclear pavement continuation. Retrace to the same public lot. This is a chosen **maximum two-mile return**, with parking walking additional; there is no claimed official mile-one marker.
Chena Riverwalk short return from Morris Thompson
Fairbanks
Up to 1 mile · Out-and-back
Paved riverside path
join the main paved riverside path and follow it west toward Golden Heart Plaza. Turn before entering the plaza or the Cushman Street bridge approach, or after half a mile on your counter if that comes first. Retrace to the center. Turn sooner at a street, barrier, flooding or unsuitable tread. The **one-mile maximum return** is a chosen cap; this short park section may give a shorter ride. Parking walking is additional.
Chester Creek short return from Valley of the Moon
Anchorage
Up to 2 miles · Out-and-back
Asphalt main creek greenway
follow signs west toward Westchester Lagoon on the main asphalt Chester Creek Trail. Set a **one-mile outward limit** on your distance counter, turn before joining the Coastal Trail if that junction comes first, then retrace. Turn sooner before any at-grade street or railway crossing, closed underpass, barrier or uncomfortable surface. The resulting outing is **up to two miles return**, plus the parking walk; no official one-mile marker is assumed.
Denali Roadside Bike Trail short return
Denali National Park
Up to 1 mile · Out-and-back
Improved path; NPS pages differ between paved and compacted gravel
follow the named bike trail toward the park entrance, initially north/northeast from the visitor center. Turn after **half a mile outward**, or sooner before a public-road or railway crossing, a barrier or uncomfortable surface, then retrace. The frontcountry map shows the railroad near the Horseshoe Lake trailhead; this short option turns before that interface. The maximum one-mile return is a chosen cap, not a surveyed route or promise of a milepost. Parking walking is additional.
Eagle Trail: summer lakeshore return
Fairbanks area
1.3 mi · Out-and-back
Packed gravel for dry, firm, snow-free summer use.
Complete editorial draft with qualifications, checked October 12, 2026. This is a snow-free summer outing. Current gates, posted parking terms, the initial walking approach and trail conditions need a fresh check before publication on Joy Riders USA.
Homer Spit short paved return
Homer
Up to 2 miles · Out-and-back
Paved shoreline bicycle path
follow the main paved trail outward along the spit toward the harbor, keeping to the east-side path. Reset your distance counter where you join it. Turn after **one outward mile**, or sooner before any public-road crossing, barrier, unsuitable surface or loss of the separated path. Retrace to the same start. The maximum two-mile return is a chosen cap, not a signed milepost route. Parking-area walking is additional.
Kenai Municipal Park Lions Trail short return
Kenai
Up to 0.5 mile · Out-and-back
Firm dirt on the named improved park trail
follow the signed Kenai Lions Club trail toward its viewing area above Cook Inlet. Stop before the overlook platform, a closure, an unclear continuation or a quarter mile outward, whichever comes first. Retrace the same path. This gives a **maximum half-mile return**; the named overlook course may be considerably shorter. No official quarter-mile marker or half-mile Lions loop is claimed. The master plan's 0.5-mile figure covers the wider park trail network.
Menard Trail paved perimeter return
Wasilla
About 2 miles · Out-and-back
Paved perimeter path
follow the paved perimeter trail to its end at the north-side parking lot. Turn before entering the vehicle area and retrace the trail. The city gives one mile between the two lots, so allow about two miles return, plus the parking walk. This is an out-and-back; there is no need to close a loop through parking aisles or ride Clapp Street. Walk any vehicle interface and turn earlier at a barrier or unsuitable surface.
Tony Knowles Coastal Trail short return from Elderberry
Anchorage
Up to 2 miles · Out-and-back
Asphalt coastal multi-use path
take the Coastal Trail south toward Westchester Lagoon. Follow the signed main asphalt path, rather than a stairway, shore access or neighborhood spur. Turn after **one outward mile**, or earlier at a closure, uncomfortable slope, public-road or railway crossing. Retrace to Elderberry and walk back to your parking space. This is a chosen maximum two-mile return, not an official milepost itinerary; parking walking is extra.
Twin Lakes paved shoreline short return
Juneau
Up to 1 mile · Out-and-back
Paved shoreline path
follow the paved path north along the lakeshore, away from the playground. Turn after **half a mile outward**, or sooner at the path end, a street connection, barrier or unsuitable section, and return the same way. The one-mile maximum is a designed distance cap; no official half-mile marker is assumed. Parking walking is extra. This is not a circuit of both lakes or a route to the Pioneer Home, hatchery or wetlands.
