Atlanta BeltLine: short Eastside return from Piedmont Park
Atlanta
Up to 2 miles return; park walking extra · Out-and-back
Paved urban multi-use trail
From the Eastside Trail at 10th / Monroe, ride south toward Ponce City Market. Turn after one outward mile or earlier before a street crossing, barrier or uncomfortable grade, then retrace. Walk the controlled Monroe crossing on return. Exclude Northeast, Southside and street detours; this is not the full BeltLine loop.
Augusta Canal: Headgates to I-20 return
Martinez / Augusta
Up to 4 miles return · Out-and-back
Improved sand/clay towpath; dry firm conditions
Follow the broad canal towpath downstream toward the I-20 bridge. Turn at the bridge, two outward miles, or at an earlier barrier, soft surface or uncomfortable approach, then retrace. Do not continue beyond I-20 or enter SORBA singletrack, riverbank spurs or roads.
Big Creek Greenway: short return from Rock Mill Park
Alpharetta
Up to 2 miles return · Out and back
Paved concrete greenway
Join the signed main concrete greenway, ride north up to one mile and retrace. Stay on the wide improved main path, not the mulch wetland loop or mountain-bike trails.
Callaway Gardens: short Discovery Bike Trail return
Pine Mountain
Up to 2 miles return · Out-and-back
Paved Discovery Bike Trail
At the Discovery Center join the signed paved Discovery Bike Trail. Choose an open signed arm, remember each junction, and follow that same arm for at most one outward mile. Turn earlier before the first motor-road crossing, uncertain fork, barrier or uncomfortable hill, then retrace exactly. Do not improvise a loop, enter walking-only nature trails or cycle the resort roads.
Columbus RiverWalk: short return from Rotary Park
Columbus
Up to 3 miles return · Out-and-back
Asphalt riverside multi-use path
Follow the main RiverWalk north toward the Civic Center and Uptown. Turn at 1.5 outward miles or before an earlier street crossing, closure, stairs or uncomfortable ramp, then retrace. Remain on the riverside path; omit downtown streets, stair access points and the Alabama bridge excursion.
Silver Comet short return from Mavell Road
Smyrna
About 0.8 main-trail miles plus parking walk · Out and back
Paved main trail; walk the parking connection and check transitions.
Try a short stretch of the Silver Comet from its Mavell Road trailhead in Smyrna. This outing follows the paved main trail west for about 0.4 mile, then returns the same way: about 0.8 mile on the main trail, plus your parking walk. It offers a shaded introduction to the rail-trail without committing to the full Cobb County corridor or the connector toward Atlanta. County trail information, PATH trail map and description
