Oak Park paved loop — Minot, North Dakota — detailed guide

Source review: 2026-10-10. A dated source review does not guarantee current-day conditions.

About 1.4 miles for one circuit, plus the short walk from your parking space. This is an easy paved park ride through Oak Park, with river bends, trees, picnic areas and places to stop. The Minot Park District explicitly permits bicycles on the named loop and describes it as easy.

Enter Oak Park from 4th Avenue NW, between the 11th and 14th blocks. Use designated park parking; the manager's illustrated map shows the entrance and several lots. The central parking area beside the amphitheater and Shelter 7 is a useful orientation point. Walk your bicycle through the lot and onto the adjacent paved path. The park district's office at 420 3rd Avenue SW is not the ride start.

Follow the Oak Park Loop shown on the manager's interactive route page for one circuit, then return to your starting parking area. Keep your outing within the named park loop. The connections toward North Broadway and 16th Street SW are separate urban routes with additional street interfaces, so they are not part of this short ride. Garden, playground and splash-pad areas are places to stop on foot rather than extra riding mileage.

Expect pedestrians, children, dogs and people moving between picnic areas and parking. Slow down near shelters and playgrounds. Walk across park access drives and through parking areas when vehicles or pedestrians are present; this is a park path with vehicle interfaces, not a promise of a completely crossing-free circuit. The mapped outing does not require a cycling extension onto 4th Avenue NW or 16th Street SW.

The manager rates this loop easy. That is a qualitative description, not a surveyed gradient or an accessibility certification. Ride at a comfortable pace, and turn back if a section does not suit you.

Park hours are 5 a.m.–11 p.m., with posted restrictions taking priority; daylight is the clearest choice for a first visit. Dogs must be leashed. The reviewed park and trail pages do not list a separate trail admission charge; shelter reservations and special events have their own arrangements. E-bike eligibility has not been established for this entry, so the guide covers ordinary bicycles.

Map and distance: the manager's public route geometry traces approximately 1.38 horizontal miles, rounded here to about 1.4. Its route is a circuit rather than an out-and-back, and the district places it in the one-to-two-mile category. The zero-mile value in the page's static text is an unloaded display placeholder. The calculation excludes your parking-space approach and is not surveyed mileage. Use the manager's interactive map for orientation; no downloadable navigation track or verified parking-stall pin is supplied.

Conditions checked October 10, 2026: the reviewed current Oak Park and loop pages, manager homepage and event notices did not announce a closure of this loop. September's Logger Fest at Oak Park was a dated event, not an ongoing closure. The October 9–11 Pumpkin Walk is at Woodland Trail, a separate natural-surface location. Roosevelt Park's construction closure also applies to a different park. Recheck the manager's notices and on-site signs before going, particularly after flooding, storms, snow or ice. This desktop review cannot certify same-day pavement or vehicle-access conditions.
