Packed limestone fines and crushed stone on the main rail trail.
This short outing follows the Greenbrier River corridor near the southern end of the trail. It suits an ordinary pedal bike with tires comfortable on improved crushed stone. The state manager describes much of the tread as packed limestone fines and recommends off-road bicycle tires. Its earlier trail article describes a gentle railway grade suitable for beginners and families. Expect an improved natural surface rather than a continuous asphalt path; choose dry, firm conditions and turn back if the tread is soft or damaged.
