Yuma West Wetlands upper paved short return

Arizona · Other separated ride

From the pond/playground-side public lot, walk to the paved upper-park multi-use path. Follow the owner brochure’s maroon route west toward the solar-array and hummingbird-garden side of the park, remaining on pavement. Turn after half a mile outward, before reaching 22nd Avenue, a road/drive crossing, a barrier or a path end, whichever comes first. Retrace. Walk any parking or access-drive interface. Stay above the lower wetland trails; do not take a brown hiking trail, beach ramp, boat launch or riverbank shortcut. Do not head east toward Gateway Park or the I-8 underpass.

Elevation
The state tourism itinerary describes the paved waterfront multi-use route as easy. This supports a short gentle prospect rather than a measured maximum slope. The selected upper route avoids beach and riverbank descents; walk an uncomfortable approach or turn early.
Starting location
282 N 12th Avenue, Yuma, AZ

Chosen maximum one-mile return, with parking walking extra. Actual short park course may be shorter. This is not the 1.5-mile GIS corridor doubled or a 3.5-mile East Wetlands hiking loop.

Mapped street-address reference. Use the designated public lot by the playground described in the guide; not a parking-stall pin.

Yuma, Arizona · Up to 1 mile out and back · Paved upper-park multi-use path

Start: West Wetlands Park public lot beside Stewart Vincent Wolfe playground, 282 N 12th Avenue, Yuma, AZ. Heritage-area owner brochure shows public parking west of 12th Avenue by the pond and playground. Walk from a designated public space to the maroon paved multi-use route; the street address is a park reference, not a stall pin.

Ride: From the pond/playground-side public lot, walk to the paved upper-park multi-use path.

Distance: Chosen maximum one-mile return, with parking walking extra. Actual short park course may be shorter. This is not the 1.5-mile GIS corridor doubled or a 3.5-mile East Wetlands hiking loop.

Surface, permission and effort: Yuma’s multi-use-path code permits human-powered bicycles, subject to posted exceptions. The jointly published owner brochure explicitly separates the paved multi-use route from brown hiking trails. No blanket permission for all wetland nature trails or the tribal north shore is inferred. The state tourism itinerary describes the paved waterfront multi-use route as easy. This supports a short gentle prospect rather than a measured maximum slope. The selected upper route avoids beach and riverbank descents; walk an uncomfortable approach or turn early.

Planning: Use daylight within current posted park and lot hours; retained municipal records differ, so no universal 5 a.m./6 a.m. opening or 9 p.m./11 p.m. closing is promised. A dated state itinerary describes the paved trail as free. A current ordinary parking tariff was not independently established; posted terms govern. Museum admission is separate. Ride slowly near the playground, yield to walkers, keep pets leashed and stay on the signed shared-use path. No e-bike class permission is established. Carry water and avoid extreme heat; restroom service is not guaranteed.

Access: Reviewed October 20, 2026 using saved owner map and municipal findings with a bounded current source search. An earlier Gateway/I-8 closure and forecast reopening were not treated as proof of completion. This western park outing excludes that area. A fresh city operating update for this western park section was unavailable. No new western-course closure was established; current signs, flooding, sand and lot access govern.

Choose comfortable weather, bring water and check current signs before setting out. No parking-space pin, surveyed route or GPX is supplied.
