Follow the paved North Shore path east from North Marina Park, keeping Utah Lake beside you, then return before the path continues along the shoreline neighborhood's road. Allow about 2.1 miles of riding, plus a short walked approach from the marina parking area.
This course uses the city's mapped asphalt shoreline path and its existing bike/ped network. It leaves the boat ramp, fishing jetty, dirt park paths and longer road connections outside the ride. City trail map, municipal bicycle and pedestrian plan
Start and course
Start at North Marina Park, 1193 E Saratoga Road, Saratoga Springs. The current city profile confirms parking on a first-come basis. This is a different location from the older Marina Park on Harbor Parkway, Inlet Park and the RC Airplane Park. Use the marina's public visitor parking and follow current entrance and parking signs. Current North Marina profile
Walk your bicycle through the parking area and north along the paved marina approach to the North Shore path. The mapped asphalt approach is approximately 220 feet long; walking within the parking area adds to that. Give people visiting the marina and vehicles using the launch area plenty of room.
At the main shoreline path, turn right, heading east. Keep the lake on your right. Remain on the main asphalt path as it follows the shoreline and its shallow coves. Leave the roadbase park paths, fishing platforms and neighborhood sidewalks out of the course.
After approximately 1.1 miles, turn around where the path reaches the western edge of the shoreline neighborhood beside Lake View Drive, before continuing along its road-adjacent section toward Shoreline Park. The map reference for this transition is approximately 40.36253, -111.86702. Use it with the city map and the visible neighborhood edge; it is a planning reference rather than a surveyed navigation waypoint. You do not need to enter the nearby private pond park, ride on Lake View Drive or continue into Shoreline Park's dirt paths.
Return west on the same shoreline pavement, with the lake on your left. At the marina approach, leave the main path and walk back to the visitor parking. This course does not extend west to the Saratoga Road crossing, RC Park or the Pony Express Parkway work area.
Distance and terrain
The city's geographic path data gives approximately 1.07 miles each way from the marina approach junction to the chosen neighborhood transition: approximately 2.13 miles, rounded to 2.1 miles of riding. Treat it as roughly 2.0–2.3 miles, allowing for the actual start and turnaround. The mapped marina approach adds about 0.08 mile of walking in both directions, plus walking within the lot. These are source-map estimates, not a surveyed track or a sum of the city's trail network.
Terrain assessment is an inference. Twelve USGS ground samples taken ten meters north of the mapped main path span about 5.4 feet in elevation. They suggest modest general shoreline-bank relief, but use one-meter data acquired October 5, 2016. They are not measurements of today's pavement, parking approach or maximum trail slope. No cumulative climbing or accessibility rating is established for this complete outing. The mapped approach's ADA field does not certify the whole shoreline route. Walk any short incline or crowded section that feels uncomfortable. USGS elevation service
Expect an exposed shoreline ride. Bring drinking water and allow for wind, sun and changing weather. Keep a comfortable pace, yield to walkers and announce passing.
Rules and visit planning
The marina's published park hours are 6 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. The city says the marina and its restrooms are open year-round; confirm their operation on arrival. City park rules prohibit overnight parking and require dogs to remain leashed. Daylight is recommended for this ride. Marina information, city park rules
The marina lists charges for watercraft using the boat launch. Those are boat-launch charges; a separate ordinary bicycle or trail fee is not listed. Parking duration and any current posted charges still need checking. Keep the riding course clear of the boat ramp and jetty.
This guide is for ordinary pedal bicycles. The city's published park rules prohibit Class 2–3 e-bikes, e-scooters and electric motorcycles. Follow current local signs if using another bicycle type.
Current conditions and research limits
Sources were reviewed October 12, 2026. The city describes shoreline habitat work that may require temporary signed trail closures, with work continuing through fall 2030. It also describes road work around Pony Express Parkway and Saratoga Road. Those notices do not establish that this entire eastbound shoreline course is closed or cleared. Current city infrastructure notices
The main path's recorded inspection date is from 2019; newer map edits are not current pavement inspections. The approach-to-main-path map lines end about four feet apart, which is a cartographic alignment issue rather than a measured physical gap. The marina map marker identifies the facility, not a surveyed parking stall or entrance.
Before publication, recheck the actual parking approach, open junction, neighborhood turnaround, pavement, short inclines, barriers, service operation and posted parking terms. If a section is blocked, stop or turn back instead of creating a street, private-property or dirt-path detour. This complete editorial draft remains unapproved for launch pending those checks and USA website integration.
