Jonesboro, Arkansas · About 3.1 miles, plus the parking walk · Loop with park-road crossings

Follow the park’s paved Walk / Jog / Bike Trail for a circuit through woods and beside the lake. This is the separate shared-use path shown in yellow on the city park map. The lake-edge chat walking trail, mountain-bike trails, pump track and vehicle loop road are different routes.

Enter Craighead Forest Park at 4910 South Culberhouse Road. Use designated day-use visitor parking near Access Road 1 / Joe Martin Pavilion, shown at the southern end of the city map. Follow current parking and event signs; a pavilion reservation does not reserve the surrounding trail for ordinary riders. Walk your bicycle from the lot to the signed paved bicycle loop, yielding to vehicles at the access road. The parking walk is additional and has not been measured. Do not use the fenced ATV parking area as a substitute bicycle start.

Ride one circuit on the designated paved path and return to your starting connection. Use the city map and Walk / Jog / Bike signs to stay on the outer bicycle route where other trails branch toward the lake and playgrounds. Keep right, yield to walkers and pass slowly with an audible warning. Walk when crowds make riding uncomfortable.

Several park access roads intersect the circuit. Stop before each vehicle crossing, look both ways and walk across only when clear. Stay on the path between crossings; this outing does not include riding the park’s vehicle loop road, South Culberhouse Road or East Craighead Forest Road. Do not assume a driver will yield or that every crossing has a protected signal. If a crossing or work area is unsuitable, turn back on the same path rather than using a road detour.

The city’s 2024 assessment identifies a 3.1-mile shared-use loop; an older highway-department opening account reports 3.2 miles. Treat this as about 3.1 miles per circuit, with the parking walk extra. The 3.2-mile vehicle road and 2.4-mile lakeside chat trail are not additional pieces of this outing. Extra laps repeat the same trail mileage.

The 2024 assessment describes the main path as accessible, but this is historical, qualitative evidence. A measured maximum grade and a current accessibility survey are unavailable. Exercise-station approaches were reported to exceed a five-percent slope; those approaches are outside this ride. Parking surfaces were also reported to be deteriorating. Check the actual connection before unloading and walk any slope or surface you find uncomfortable.

The current city facility listing gives 6 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. Choose daylight for this outing and follow temporary gate, parking and event restrictions. The reviewed manager pages do not establish a current ordinary day-use parking or trail charge; check posted terms rather than assuming that camping, pavilion or special-event prices apply to a bicycle visit. Restrooms are mapped at park facilities, but their availability is not guaranteed. Drinking-water availability was not confirmed. Bring water and keep pets leashed. This guide covers ordinary pedal bicycles; current e-bike eligibility remains unconfirmed.

Reviewed October 17, 2026: the city’s facility and trail pages, full park schematic, selected pages of its 2024 assessment and the 2026 soft-trail work notice. That notice concerns 8,899 feet of soft-surface work; its “Closed” bid status describes procurement, not a closure of the paved bicycle loop. It does not prove that construction is complete or that every path is clear today. Obey current maintenance signs and check the route before riding.

Editorial draft complete with the limits above. A fresh operating check and USA website integration remain before publication.
