Newport, Vermont · Up to 2 miles return · Firm compacted crushed stone main trail, 8–10 feet wide

Start: Beebe Spur — southern state trail, North Country Hospital, Prouty Drive, Newport, Vermont. Fresh state manager explicitly directs trail visitors to North Country Hospital parking, then approximately 0.1 mile back along Prouty Drive to trail. Use signed trail-visitor / ordinary public spaces, respecting hospital staff/patient restrictions. WALK the published public approach with current pedestrian provision; no cycling through clinical entrances or fabricated parking pin. Use designated ordinary visitor spaces, respect reserved spaces and walk through the lot to the signed main path. The address identifies a public facility, not a surveyed stall.

Ride: Follow the signed main path north on the state Beebe Spur compacted-stone main trail toward Lake Memphremagog. Turn after 1 outward mile or before the first public-road crossing, work barrier, uncertain continuation or uncomfortable transition, whichever comes first; retrace. Walk any initial lot or access-drive interface. Do not use a road or private-property detour.

Distance: Chosen 2-mile maximum return, not the full regional corridor or a surveyed parking-to-parking distance. Earlier interfaces shorten the outing; parking walking is extra.

Permission and effort: Source-backed ordinary bicycle use on the designated improved main path; walking-only spurs and adjacent private property are excluded. State manager describes wheelchair-accessible grades and firm surface suitable for most bicycles. Qualitative ordinary trail effort, not independent maximum slope or parking-road survey. Walk awkward access and bridge transitions.

Planning: Daylight and posted trail / hospital visitor-parking terms; no overnight parking without permission. No current ordinary access tariff established; posted terms govern. Event, camping and rental charges are separate. Yield, keep to designated main and leash pets. Horses stay near shoulder where possible; seasonal snowmobiles share route. Ordinary pedal bicycles; state also names e-bikes but no blanket border / city policy inferred.

Access reviewed October 20, 2026 Central (October 21 UTC): Fresh manager confirms named firm improved route and actual parking directions. This short northern return excludes Canadian-border detour and separate city path. Winter snowmobile season Dec 16–Apr 15 does not mean dry cycling tread. Follow current closures and postpone for ice / snow / soft aggregate. This is a dated source review, not a field inspection or current-day all-clear. Postpone for snow, ice, high water, soft tread or barriers rather than improvising a bypass.

Bring water and choose suitable weather. Parking walking is extra. No surveyed parking-space pin or navigable GPX is supplied.
