Brunswick, Maine · Up to 2 miles return · Paved shared bicycle / pedestrian path

Start: Water Street public bicycle-path parking, Merrymeeting Dog Park, Water Street, Brunswick, ME. Town expressly provides bicycle-path parking at both ends and identifies the Water Street entrance past the boat landing. Use ordinary path-user spaces rather than trailer-only stalls, walk through the lot to the signed path and avoid launching traffic. The Water Street gate closes half an hour after sunset.

Ride: Follow the main path east toward Cook’s Corner. Turn after one outward mile or before the first road crossing, barrier, high water or uncomfortable rise; retrace. Stay off the Merrymeeting Bridge bike-lane connection, dog-park enclosure and water-access ramps.

Distance: Chosen two-mile maximum return on the town’s 2.6-mile one-way path. No bridge lane or Topsham road mileage added.

Permission and effort: Town expressly identifies this as a public bicycle / pedestrian facility. Broad riverside course offers a modest-effort expectation by editorial inference, not a measured maximum slope. Walk awkward lot approaches and expect highway noise.

Planning: Use sunrise–sunset, the town facility’s listed hours; narrative 24-hour path text does not override the parking gate. No current ordinary trail or parking tariff established; posted terms govern. Keep dogs leashed and yield to walkers. Horses prohibited. Ordinary pedal bikes covered; follow posted bicycle-lane signs.

Access reviewed October 20, 2026 Central (October 21 UTC): Fresh town facility profile identifies paved path and public arrivals. October 12 Town Hall closure was an office notice, not a trail closure or reopening. River flooding, leaves and ice remain reasons to shorten or postpone; no field inspection claimed.

Bring water and choose suitable weather. Parking walking is extra. No surveyed parking-space pin or navigable GPX is supplied.
