Alameda Creek — Beard to Decoto paved return
California · Other separated ride
An approximately 2.2-mile out-and-back on the paved south bank of Alameda Creek. This short ride stays west of the work affecting the Isherwood staging area and the eastern trail. The manager describes the paved south-bank path as flat and suitable for bicycles. Wind, busy shared-path traffic and occasional grit can still affect the ride.

Alameda Creek — Beard to Decoto paved return — detailed guide
Source review: 2026-10-11. A dated source review does not guarantee current-day conditions.
Start at Beard Staging Area, at the end of Beard Road in Fremont. Use the signed public staging lot and join the paved path on the south bank. The April 2026 manager map shows a 22-space lot, restrooms and drinking water; capacity and working amenities have not been checked on site. Carry water. No Beard-specific parking fee is quoted in the reviewed sources, so check the posted terms and gate hours when you arrive.
Ride east toward Niles, remaining on the paved south-bank trail. The Decoto Road bridge/underpass is your turnaround landmark. Turn in a clear, permitted spot on the trail near the bridge, give approaching users room, and return along the same path. Do not climb onto Decoto Road or continue east toward Isherwood. The north-bank gravel path is a different route.
The current manager mileage table and April 2026 map place Beard at cumulative mile 5.4 and Decoto Road at mile 4.3, measured from Old Canyon Road. That difference is 1.1 miles one way, or approximately 2.2 miles returning. Parking approaches and your exact turnaround change the total slightly. The older eleven-mile full-corridor mileage sheet is not the basis for this outing.
The creek path is separate from road traffic. Expect vehicles at the staging lot, and slow near access points, bridge approaches and other users. These sources do not establish an exhaustive crossing count or an independently surveyed maximum grade. Stay on the designated path and follow posted restrictions.
Ordinary bicycles are permitted. Current district policy permits Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes on the designated paved regional trail; Class 3 e-bikes and e-scooters are prohibited. Keep to 15 mph maximum, slow to 5 mph when passing, and yield to walkers. The Alameda Creek profile asks all bicyclists to wear helmets and ring a bell or call out before passing. Horses are prohibited on the paved south-bank trail. Dogs must remain on a leash.
The regional trail is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. unless otherwise posted or permitted; parking gates can have separate hours. Choose daylight and return before your lot closes. July–November 2026 work between Isherwood and the I Street entrance can close parking and trail farther east. Keeping this outing west of Decoto avoids that described work area, but current signs and barriers still control access. Do not treat an empty closure listing as an on-site all-clear.
Sources checked October 11, 2026 UTC: manager trail profile, April 2026 manager map, paved-trail description, current bicycle policy and current alerts. The older electric-bike ban in the general paved directory conflicts with the district's current explicit e-bike policy; this guide uses the current policy for the designated paved regional trail.
Editorial entry complete with these qualifications. Fresh posted-access and condition checks and integration into the separate national website remain before launch. No GPX or precise parking pin has been created.
